Over time, the natural aging process, gravity, and sun damage take their toll and it appears on our face and necks. The cheeks appear flattened, the youthful robust face of youth is lost, the jaw line slackens and deep creases appear about the mouth. The neck can also develop laxity with excess skin and fat deposits. A facelift surgery, often combined with a neck lift, is one of the most effective procedures to restore and correct the natural aging process of the lower face and neck. During your consultation, Dr. Christopoulos will discuss with you your goals and expectations, and recommend the correct procedure or combination of procedures for you to leave you feeling and looking rested, rejuvenated and natural.

A traditional facelift incision begins in the hairline at the temple, extends in front of and around the ear to end in the scalp behind the ear.
A short scar or mini facelift incision often begins in front of the ear and extends around the ear.
If a neck lift is added to your procedure, a small incision is made underneath the chin.
Through these incisions, the underlying muscles of the face and neck are tightened, fat is repositioned or transferred as needed and excess skin is redraped and removed to restore the smooth contour and refreshed look of youth.
A facelift is a surgical method that reduces excess facial skin making the face appear more youthful. Nevertheless, the aging face not only loses skin flexibility and establishes looser skin, it also loses fat and muscle tone. Added procedures that may be required to attain the best results include: neck lift, blepharoplasty (eyelid surgical treatment), liposuction, autologous fat injection, removal of buccal (cheek) fat pad, forehead lift, browlift, chemical or laser peel, and malar (cheek), submalar or chin implants.
After your facelift procedure, Dr. Christopoulos will wrap your incisions in bandages. Sometimes small drainage tubes are placed which are removed the next day and sutures are removed within one week. It is natural to expect some bruising, swelling and numbness. Your visible improvements will appear as your swelling and bruising subside. Most patients can resume normal daily activities after 10 days.
