Ideal Candidates for a Lower Body Lift are patients who:

Wish to correct loose hanging skin from the abdomen, flanks and buttocks
Have maintained a stable weight for 6-12 months
Do not smoke or use any tobacco products
Are in overall good health

About the Procedure

Dr. Christopoulos performs her surgeries in a fully accredited outpatient surgical facility with overnight monitoring or in the hospital. The procedure can take anywhere from 4-6 hours, depending on the technique used and each patient’s individual anatomy. You will likely spend one to two nights in the hospital for monitoring.

Anesthesia

Dr. Christopoulos, in conjunction with an anesthesiologist, will use general anesthesia to keep you comfortable and safe during your procedure.

Incisions

The exact length and pattern of incision will depend on your individual anatomy and where the skin excess is located. Dr. Christopoulos will guide you through the consultation process and help determine the best location of scars for you, taking into consideration your body habitus and personal preferences.

Recovery and Results

The length of recovery and healing process does vary from individual to individual. You can expect to spend 1-2 nights in the hospital or surgical facility for monitoring. It is natural to expect some bruising, swelling and numbness along the abdomen, thighs and buttocks after your procedure. You may be wrapped in bandages after surgery and small drainage tubes are placed temporarily under the skin to drain excess fluid. Most patients are able to resume daily activities and return to work within 2-4 weeks. While you will immediately see an improvement in shape and contour of your lower body, prolonged swelling after a lower body lift is, however, typical and it can take several weeks to months before you see all the swelling subside. Dr. Christopoulos will advise you to refrain from strenuous activity for several weeks after your surgery and will also guide you on the proper type of compression garments that may be necessary to minimize swelling and improve your results. Schedule a consultation today with Dr. Christopoulos to discuss further any questions you may have and to determine which type of lower body contouring is best for you.
